Forklift Truck Accident Compensation Claims

Forklift truck accidents are a common injury, which can occur during the course of your employment. If you have been involved in an accident and are looking for compensation WE can help. Your job isn’t at risk if you do decide to make a claim.

On average 24% of all workplace transport related accidents involve fork lift trucks.

Forklift truck accidents can occur where:

  • The driver has not been trained correctly to operate the forklift truck safely
  • A colleague has drove the forklift truck negligently
  • There was no safe traffic route for the forklift truck
  • The forklift truck was unsuitable or defective
  • The employer did not provide a safe system of work
  • The employer did not provide competent staff
  • The floor surface is unsuitable or a steep slope which has caused the forklift truck to fall over
  • A load has fallen from a forklift truck onto a passer-by.
  • A forklift truck driver collides with a pedestrian such as running over their foot or knock someone over

There is a legal minimum standard of basic training, which employees should be given by their employers before anyone is allowed to operate certain types of lift truck, even if they only operate the equipment occasionally.

Employers should also supply the operators with personal protective equipment such as fluorescent jackets, hard hats.

Employers should also ensure that forklift trucks are inspected and maintained to ensure the forklift trucks are in a safe condition.

Employers should also assess the working environment and establish safe routes for forklift tucks to use and try to separate pedestrians from the forklift truck routes and these routes should be clearly marked to prevent any accidents.

Under the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992 there is a duty on all employers to ensure, so far is reasonably practicable, the health safety and welfare of their employees at work.

If you have suffered from an injury at work due to a forklift truck, WE solicitors can help to claim the compensation you need and deserve.
